Interested in organizing a Neighborhood Watch program?  Neighborhood Watch works if people want to assume a more active role in making their neighborhood safer. Since it is impractical to place a police officer on every corner of every neighborhood, it is more practical to have help from the people who live there. The neighborhood residents know who belongs there and who doesn't and what activity is suspicious. The main reason Neighborhood Watch can be successful is that citizens can begin working with, instead of relying on, law enforcement to combat crime in their community.  If you are interested in developing a Neighborhood Watch Program, please contact or email Officer Nicole Jacobs.

Effective March 1, 2005, Wisconsin residents will have access to 1 free annual consumer credit report.  You can access your free report at www.annualcreditreport.com.

Federal Trade Commission Report:  On Wednesday, December 1, 2004, the three nationwide consumer reporting companies – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion – will begin processing consumers’ requests for free annual credit reports at www.annualcreditreport.com. The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 (FACTA) amends the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and requires the nationwide credit bureaus to provide consumers, upon request, a free copy of their credit report once every 12 months. Consumers in 13 Western states may request a free annual credit report beginning December 1. The Federal Trade Commission enforces the FCRA with respect to consumer reporting companies.

A credit report contains consumers’ identification information; payment history with different creditors; a list of inquiries made by various financial institutions; and information on the public record, such as foreclosures or bankruptcies. Consumer reporting companies collect and sell this information to lenders and other businesses that have a permissible purpose to obtain it.
