The WCA Group Health Trust (GHT) is offering you an extra incentive to practice some healthy living habits while also assisting your local food pantry. The Healthy Holiday Challenge will take place from December 4-31, 2016. To participate you will earn points for following the USDA recommendations of eating 2 ½ cups of vegetables and 2 cups of fruit, while also doing 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity. Participants that follow the guidelines and report their points will be eligible to award their local food pantry a donation from the GHT.

Eligibility

You must be a GHT policyholder to participate.

How the contest will work

Each participant can earn up to three points per day. One point for consuming 2 ½ cups of vegetables, one point for consuming 2 cups of fruit and an additional point for 30 continuous minutes of moderate to vigorous activity. Participants can earn 3 points per day and the maximum points for one week are 21. There is not a team competition during this challenge; but the more participants from each area the greater the chances of helping your local food pantry. Be sure to encourage your co-workers to get involved!

Each week you can visit the WCA Group Health Trust website at

www.wcaght.org to report your point total. Please report your points by 4:00 pm on Tuesday of each week.

There are three ways for participants to be selected.

  • Weekly – each week 20 participants that reach the weekly goal of 21 points will be chosen to award a local food pantry of their choice $20. Any ties will be entered in a drawing. Participants can win multiple weeks.
  • Challenge conclusion – 20 participants with the highest scores (84 maximum) will be selected to award $50 to their favorite local food pantry.
  • Additionally another 20 local food pantries will receive $20 from participants that report points all four weeks, regardless of their point totals. Those that qualify will be entered in a random drawing.

Once all of the winners have been chosen the selected food pantries will receive a check for the total amount awarded to them. We will also include a letter informing them of the participants that selected them for the cash donation on behalf of WCA Group Health Trust.
