Downtown Waupaca 4-Way Stop Trial

The City of Waupaca will be conducting a 2nd Pilot Study this summer for a proposed 4-way stop at the intersection(s) of Fulton/Main and Badger/Main. As part of the continued design and reconstruction of Main Street, the City and their engineering consultants want to examine traffic patterns during the peak of tourism season for the City and region. Turn Lanes will be eliminated as part of the pilot study and additional stop signs will be temporarily installed to alert drivers. Last year’s pilot study was conducted during the months of October/November and provided valuable information outside of the traditional tourism season. The 2nd study is to gauge peak vehicular travel through the downtown and how it may affect the two intersections that are currently signalized. The proposed pilot study is planned for 2-3 months between Memorial Day to Labor Day. With the City’s reconstruction of City Hall | Library Square set to begin after June 18, 2018 staff and our consultants will closely monitor the  intersection and make any necessary changes or stop the pilot study if conflicts arise.

A survey will be published shortly seeking input and comments. Please stay tuned to the to the City of Waupaca’s Facebook and Website for more information.

If you have any concerns please feel free to contact Brennan P. Kane, Director of Community and Economic Development at bkane@cityofwaupaca.org.
