“The Waupaca Lakemen Organization is excited to be the first to “step to the plate” and hit a triple by donating $10,000 for the Lakemen Field Project to improve our beloved baseball diamond,” said the Lakemen Baseball Manager, Andy Wanty. Andy went on to say, “Opposing teams hold Lakemen Field in high regard. With the age of the light pole currently on the field and the aging infield grass, these two items were without a doubt the next two improvement steps needed to make sure the field stays in top notch shape for the safety of our fans and athletes who came to the ballpark. The Lakemen are very proud to be the first to donate and look to help encourage others in hopes that the project will go off without a hitch. “We are beyond grateful for this generous donation and look forward to upgrading the safety at Lakemen Field,” said Parks and Rec Director, Laura Colbert. The City of Waupaca Parks and Recreation Department is looking to raise between $275,000 and $300,000 through donations by the Fall of 2024. The City currently has $175,000 in the 2024 Capital Improvement Plan dedicated to this project.
The first phase of construction will include the light poles, lights, infield reconstruction, and sound system.
